Common Technical Issues: SUZUKI RM250

BRAND: SUZUKI
MODEL: RM250
YEARS: 96-00
CATEGORY: DIRT BIKE

TECHNICAL ISSUE DETAILS
The stator on these RM250 models consists of a plate with a pickup coil and a 6-pole stator on which THREE poles are wound as an ignition source coil, and THREE poles are wound with their own output specifically to power the electronic circuits inside the CDI unit. Ignition failure causes: 1) Bad ignition source coil, or bad power coil for the CDI, which is a very common fault. Check the resistance of the stock stator. Replace with ESL470 (ignition & lighting output) 2) CDI unit failed. NOT VERY COMMON AT ALL. Replace the CDI if the stator, ignition coil and all connections test out fine and the bike still has no spark.
